It seems like forever since I updated Shutter Speed Reads. Last weekend, the NASCAR Nationwide Series and the ARCA Series were in town. Due to circumstances during the event, I did not take one picture of a racecar! I cannot remember the time when I was at a racetrack and never used a camera. In review, the Enjoy Illinois 300 was won by Chase Elliot and the Ansell ActivArmr 150 ARCA race was won by Mason Mitchell. Now on to this weekend. Due to family commitments, I was unable to attend Friday night's Test &Tune at Route 66. However, on Saturday Team Demolition Derby Round 2 was held at the Dirt Oval. There was a threat of rain all day, but Mother Nature finally cooperated and we had a beautiful night for racing and crashing. Throughout the round robin Tournament of Destruction, the Mean Green Machine was the team to beat. Led by "Cadillac" Zac Van Allen, they destroyed the Junk Yard Dogs in the final. This was the second win in a row for the Mean Green Machine. Before the final, there was a short fireworks show.
Before the action started singer Claire Wagner did a beautiful rendition of the Star Spangled Banner. She did a better job than most that I have heard at major sporting events. She sang it the way it is supposed to be sung and not "stylized".
