Today, I visited the Raceway Woods Forest Preserve. This is the site of the old Meadowdale International Raceway. The Raceway was in existence from 1958-1969. It held Trans Am, motorcycle, kart and drag races during its existence. The Forest Preserve District and the locals have done a good job to preserve what is left of the racetrack. As I was walking along, I came across a couple who were using a metal detector. I asked if they had seen any artifacts from the track. They directed me to an area where a building used to stand. Some of the roofing, concrete floor and what appears to be a wooden foundation are in a very isolated area. Adjacent to this area, is what appears to be a gas pump like you would find at your local gas station. Here are some of the images from today's adventure. I also submitted these to Matt Dillner's lostspeedways.com. If you want to read more about the Meadowdale International Raceway, please click here.
